Meditation Place with Fragrance

    Now we are at the Meditation Place with Fragrance, where Wang Yue once studied. Wang Yue (1199-1275) was Wang Xizhi’s descendant of the 22^th generation. Wang Chaozhi, Wang Xizhi’s descendant of the 4^th generation, was adopted by Wang Guobao, who was a descendant of the 3^rd generation of Wang Yuezhi, the elder male cousin of Wang Xizhi and the the eldest son of Prime Minister Wang Dao. Wang Yue’s home was in Chengtan Town where we have passed by. He lived in the late Southern Song Dynasty, passed the imperial examination and honored as Scholar when he was 18. Then, he was promoted to Left Prime Minister and grand guardian of the heir apparent. He stood for resisting the Mongol army, which made him very popular among the people. When Wang Yue passed away, Wen Tianxiang was appointed by the imperial court to hold a memorial ceremony for him and praised him as “talent as the backbone of the country with extraordinary talents”. Wang Yue’s great-grandmother lived at the foot of the 19 Peaks. When her husband died because of leading the army to suppress Fang La Uprising, she brought their son, Wang Yue’s grandfather, to her parents’ home. Thus, the two families were in close contact. Wang Yue once studied at this place when he was young. You can enter the hole to feel the “natural conditioner” which is cool in summer and warm in winter.
