Golden Toad Guides Road and Hamadryad

    A huge rock at the right side of the mountain road is called the “Golden Toad Guides Road”. It is said that the golden toad liked to live in a place of treasures, and each place where a golden toad with three feet lived had treasures under the ground. This is why Chinese geomancy is fond of toad. It is deemed as a symbol of luck as it can gather and guard the treasures. Therefore, we can tell that these nineteen mountains are a place of treasures in the geomancy.

    At the foot of the mountain, we can see an ancient tree with a history of over 500 years. It just has its tree trunk left, as it was once hit by the thunder. Local people confirmed that this tree was dead, but after many years, its damaged trunk still sent up a new branch one day, which was a miracle. Therefore, the later generations inscribed the “Hamadryad” to show respect for this tree. Look at it carefully. Does it look like a lady standing by the road to welcome the endless stream of visitors?
